MUP acquires 'The Truth of the Palace Letters' by Paul Kelly and Troy Bramston
Drawing on newly released archival documents and interviews, Kelly and Bramston uncover the implications of the letters for our democracy and the republic debate today.
Melbourne University Publishing is proud to announce the acquisition of a new title from Paul Kelly and Troy Bramston: The Truth of the Palace Letters: Deceit Ambush and Dismissal in 1975. This will be released in November this year.
Paul Kelly was present in Canberra on the day of the Dismissal, and has covered this story and emerging controversy since, most recently in the 2015 title The Dismissal, co-authored by Troy Bramston.
The Truth of the Palace Letters will draw on newly released archival documents and interviews, highlighting the link between the Queen and the Governor-General while uncovering the implications of the letters for our democracy and the republic debate today.
Melbourne University Publishing CEO Nathan Hollier observes, "It is right that discussion and debate should continue about the Dismissal, and the fascinating personalities and social dynamics involved. We are very excited to be publishing this important new work by Paul Kelly and Troy Bramston on what remains a defining moment of our history."
