Dr Richard Muir has a first class MA and a doctorate from the University of Aberdeen, and was made Honorary Research Fellow in Geography and the Environment in 2001. The bestselling author of the classic and hugely successful Shell Guide to Reading the Landscape, he is a leading expert in the field of landscape interpretation. Raised in the Yorkshire Dales, educated in Scotland and having lectured at Trinity, Dublin and Anglia universities, he now lives in Harrogate.
